Historical Yarn

Loom

While I was in DC, we drove to Mt.Vernon. It was beautiful! The house was amazingly and the grounds spectacular. However I was most excited to see the spinning room. I feel rather lucky to just go to sock summit and buy some yarn!

Oh Look!

Aren't they all so pretty together. Just a few of the amazing Linen Stitch Scarfs that we've been making. I've been dreaming up some yarn substitutions that are a little less pricey and easier to find.

Summer Knits

What is everyone knitting for the summer? I for one am going with lace, and some socks. Anything light enough and portable enough that I'll be good for my two plane rides. Ms. Cece made this lovely item and I was smitten...
So I ordered up some Shibui sock yarn for it. The pattern calls for Worsted but I think it'll work.

What are other summer projects that we're working on!

What we talk about...

The conversations at knitting can get a little crazy. We jump from food to chicken stories back to yarn in a heart beat. Its a lot of fun, a lot. Plus we show off our knit wear!

Flint Knits redo of the Feburary baby sweater, called the February Lady Sweater. A great and easy knit! Also see this beautiful pullover.

Alicia wore a great pullover with a hood, called the Heather Hoodie.

A few weeks ago Becky wore a great, the Manon Sweater

Also if you'd like to burn through a few hours of time that you'll never get back, check out People of Walmart. CAUTION: You might want to wash your brain after.

Beret KAL

Have you started your beret? Are you going to? Its a great way to learn or practice cables.

Cast on with the smaller needles, then move to the larger pair and being to start the pattern.

Oooooooo She's Back

A long time ago, in a state far far away, I found a yarn dyer who could work magic with color. Luck for me she loved to dye as much as I loved to knit, and even better she remained a local favorite rather than a status symbol of yarn (ie Sundara the painfully expensive yarn that I do own). I've collected many of her sock yarns, lace weights and patterns over my years of southern living. Then one day, she was gone! All the yarn from her etsy page! GONE!!! Lickitey split I called to my TN friends in hopes that she had been at the fiber fair, but NO she was AWOL. Sadly I stacked her yarn in my stash, labeled "special" and stuffed extra moth-a-way (that she makes) around them. Until today! I had a little thought (I've those sometimes, I know its amazing) "check the page" it said. So I did. And much to my surprise she was back!!!!! Well I have to share!
Visit the young lady formerly known as Fiber Denn, 1AZC. You'll be happy you did.
This lovely became a very nice scarf.

Welcome!

Hi there knitters! Our little group needs a place to call home. A place for KAL (knit-a-longs), pictures, and just fun! And we have fun! While we sound like a bit like a group of street toughs, like say the Jets and the Sharks. We're just a bunch of crazy knitters.
